Wild Bird (Corvid) Trapping Course
24 February 2025 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
With significant changes to corvid trapping legislation due to be enforced following the passing by Scottish Parliament of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024, this new course is being been prepared to an agreed standard by a Working Group led by NatureScot and requires to be approved by Scottish Government.
The new Act makes it illegal to use certain traps to kill or take a wild bird or mammal without a licence. To obtain a licence, all corvid trap operators will be required to complete a Scottish Government approved training course regardless of whether or not they have attended a course in the past.
Successful candidates will receive a certificate that will enable them to apply for an individual ID number which must be attached to each trap when set. This includes Larsen traps, Larsen mates, Larsen pods and multi-catch cages.
